Cambridge： Cambridge University Press, 2013, 520 pp., ISBN： 9781107010758.In what is Lisa Raphals＇ second comparative study of ancient Greece and China, her first being Knowing Words： Wisdom and Cunning in the Classical Traditions of China and Greece （Cornell University Press, 1992）, the divinatory traditions of Greece and China are brought together so as to, ＂offer new insights on the roles of divination in society, and bring to light broad problems in the comparative study of culture and the nature of the comparative process＂ （14）. This in and of itself is no easy feat, but when we factor in the mass of historical, archaeological, sociological, and philosophical sources, the challenge becomes truly daunting.
