摘　　要：英国作家毛姆在《月亮和六便士》中刻画的思特里克兰德这一形象,长久以来饱受道德败坏的诟病。本文作者认为,毛姆通过对思特里克兰德和两位女性角色的塑造,艺术地再现了人性的真实,即人性不是一维的、简单的黑与白、善与恶;而是多维的,是虚伪与真实、善与恶、好与坏的复杂结合体。同时本文结合德国哲学家雅斯贝尔斯的悲剧理论指出,杰出人物总是会超越道德主义的偏狭构架。Charles Strickland in Maugham The Moon and Sixpence has long been criticized for being immoral. This paper argues that through the portrayal of the three characters Strickland, Mrs. Strickland and Blanche, Maugham is trying to present humanity the way it is. To Maugham, humanity is not one - dimensional black or white, or good or evil, but rather a multi - dimensional and complex combination of honesty and hypocrisy, good and evil. Meanwhile, under the guidance of German philosopher Karl Jaspers＇ tragedy theory, this paper points out that a tragic hero always transcends the parochial framework of moralism.
