Newlyweds living arrangement is the result of changes of family ethics and interactions of family powers. We can see the changes of family structure and intergenerational relationships from it. The survey about 1344 newlywed couples in Shanghai and Wuxi shows that:(1)Most newlyweds choose neolocal residence. But with the change of the family life cycle, the choice will be dynamic changes;(2)the higher the husband's socio-economic status is,the more likely the neolocal residence is chosen. Newlyweds living arrangements are closely linked with the essence of the economic independence;(3)in the choice of patrilocal residence and matrilocal residence, the wife who has a higher education and income resources does not gain more power. But the household registration and housing conditions have become the important factors affecting the newlyweds living arrangements, and this reflects the uniqueness of Chinese family couple power operation.
