摘　　要：英国小说家约翰·韦恩被认为是"愤怒的青年"的代表人物,他的作品往往被标上"愤青"的标签。《救生员》是其短篇小说代表作。该作品通过对主人公的物化比喻、对比手法的使用以及未加明示的结尾,向读者展示了彷徨于理想和现实之间的青年一代,反映了青年一代彷徨无助的心路历程,表达了作者自己对青年问题的关怀和忧虑,与"愤青"作品有着明显的不同。John Wain, the English novelist, is regarded as one of the representatives of the ＂angry young men＂, and his novels are often applied to this label. Lifeguard is a famous short story by him. In this story, Wain compares the protagonist to various sea animals, contrasts him sharply with a secondary character and leaves an unstated future for him, which exposes the true situation of the youth walking between ideals and reality, reflects their confusion and helplessness, and reveals the author ＇s care and worry about the youth problem. Thus, Wain and his works are beyond the ＂angry young men＂ label.
