摘　　要：托马斯·品钦的《梅森和迪克逊》是一部关于18世纪美国立国时期美洲大陆地理空间变化的小说。作品通过追溯美国地理版图上最重要的分界线"梅森—迪克逊线"的形成过程,揭示了民族国家的地域想象和空间政治。作为特定历史时期的空间信息载体,基于"梅森—迪克逊线"绘制的地图反映了美国民族国家的疆域变迁和发展历程,同时也隐含着地图绘制过程中的殖民暴力、地域纷争、种族矛盾和文化张力。《梅森和迪克逊》通过描绘美国革命前美洲社会的空间图谱和疆土意识,戏剧性地呈现了帝国话语和民族叙事相互交织的主题。Thomas Pynchon＇s Mason Dixon traces the Mason-Dixon Line back to the early days of the American republic, highlighting the territorial imagination and spacial politics in the formation of the nation/state. As carrier of territorial information during various periods of American history, cartographic undertakings of North American continent based on the line reflects the transformations of the boundaries of the nation while concealing colonial violence, land disputes, race crisis and cultural tension in the process of nation-building. The novel dramatizes the tension between imperial discourse and national narrative, implicating a critique of the condition of the late capitalist American society.
