Objective To investigate the levels of serumβ-arrestin 2in type 2diabetic(T2DM)patients with different body mass index(BMI)and to analyze the association of serumβ-arrestin 2with metabolic indices. Methods A total of 170T2 DM patients were enrolled and divided into three groups according to BMI as normal weight group(Con,n=55),over-weight group(Ow,n=57)and obese group(Ob,n=58).Several related indices including blood chemistry values were determined and analyzed statistically. Results(1)Serumβ-arrestin 2levels in Con group,Ow group and Ob group were(331.31±11.59),(321.18±17.47)and(303.95±13.63)ng/L respectively and the differences of pairwise comparison among three groups were statistically significant(P〈0.05).(2)Serumβ-arrestin 2levels were negatively correlated with BMI,TG,FIns,HOMA-IR and HOMA-β(r=-0.404,-0.328,-0.353,-0.308,-0.260,P〈0.01).Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that BMI was independently associated with serumβ-arrestin 2.TG,FIns,HOMA-IR and HOMA-βhad no association with the levels of serumβ-arrestin 2. Conclusion BMI is an independent risk factor for decreased levels of serumβ-arrestin 2in T2 DM patients.
