海南人下南洋的历史考察

摘　　要：海南位于海上丝绸之路上,海南人很早就参与海外贸易,有些人因贸易的原因"住番",久而久之成为早期华侨。近代尤其是第二次鸦片战争后,在西方列强开发东南亚和国内生活贫困等因素的共同作用下,形成下南洋的高潮。此后,海南人下南洋的多寡,既与海南社会秩序好坏有关,也与东南亚经济政治环境有关。近代海南人下南洋主要有自由移民、客头招募和洋行招募三种形式。在下南洋的海南人中,文昌人是主体,并且下南洋的海南人在很长时间里有女人不出洋的所谓"乡规"。Hainan is located on the Maritime Silk Road. In early times, Hainanese participated in the overseas trade. Because of this, some of them needed to live abroad and they finally became the early overseas Chinese. In modern times, especially after the Second Opium War, some factors, mainly the development of the western powers in the Southeast Asia and the domestic hard life formed the high tide of Hainanese immigration to Nanyang. Since then, the population of Hainanese immigration to Nanyang was related to the social order of Hainan as well as the economic and political environment of Southeast Asia. In modern times, Hainanese immigrated to Nanyang in three forms： free immigration, overseas organizers＇ recruitment and foreign firms＇ recruitment. Wenchang people were the main part of them and they had a so - called ＂local rule＂ for a long time that women weren＇t allowed to go overseas.
