摘　　要：中世纪欧洲的混乱局面为中世纪大学自由主义传统的获得营造了得天独厚的优势。剑桥大学作为中世纪大学的代表,与生俱来便带有自由主义精神:政治自由为大学争取到自治特权,经济自由促成学院制这一独特高效的管理模式,个人主义奠定了大学以生为本的教育理念,思想自由保障了学术的自由与繁荣。在发展市场经济的今天,剑桥大学仍然坚持自身的自由主义传统,坚守大学的理念。The medieval chaotic political situation generated liberalism tradition in medieval universities. University of Cambridge as a representative of the medieval universities was born with the spirit of liberalism： political freedom helped the university to win the privilege of autonomy; economic freedom contributed to this effective management mode of college system; individualism laid a foundation for the liberal education ideas; intellectual freedom guaranteed the academic freedom and prosperity. In today＇ s market economic development the University of Cambridge still insists on its own liberalism tradition to stick to the ideas of university.
