摘　　要：《1873年出使叶尔羌报告》一书中使用了大量使团成员出使过程中搜集到的第一手资料。以历史文献学的方法从该书成书背景与作者生平、资料来源和版本情况以及重要史实等方面对该书内容进行系统整理,可知新疆南疆社会、经济贸易和教育等方面的实际情况,该书不失为研究新疆近代史,尤其是阿古柏统治时期社会历史情况的一部重要原始文献资料。Report of the Mission to Yarkand in 1873 is the product of the British Forsyth mission to Yakub Beg’s “Yatta Shahar” regime in 1873-1874. This book includes many first-hand sources collected by members of the mission. This paper, by applying the method of Historical Literature Studies, analyzed it systematically in terms of its background, the author, document sources and version, and commented on the social, economic, trade, education and other aspects in southern Xinjiang at that time. This Report is indeed one of the important, original historic documents that can lend support to the study of Xinjiang, particularly southern Xinjiang under Yakub Beg’s rule.
