摘　　要：尽管海水淡化技术已经发展成熟,应用普遍,但人们对于应用淡化水仍有诸多疑虑和问题。本文将首先针对公众关心的问题进行讨论,并总结出几点基本的共识,诸如世界上的发展与应用、淡化水成本与市政应用的安全性、海水淡化对环境的影响以及海水淡化与其他水技术的互补关系等。文章第二部分着重介绍了作者团队自上世纪以来在海水淡化方面的研发工作,包括蒸馏法(MSF、MED)、反渗透膜与示范生产线、能量回收装置、膜蒸馏技术以及膜曝气生物反应器(MABR)与水再利用技术等。Although the desalination could be very appropriate application in the coastal areas, people still have some doubts and questions for municipal utilization in China. Therefore, some problems concerned by the public are discussed firstly in this paper, such as, development and utilization in the world, especially in Middle-East Asia, cost and safety of desalted water, and environment impact. Secondly, in the review of the development of desalination industry in China, at the same time, some achievements of R/D in our research group since last century are introduced： distillation processes （MSF, MED） and pilot plants, novel RO membrane and pilot production line, novel energy recovery device, membrane distillation and hydrophobic hollow fiber membrane, membrane aeration bioreactor （MABR） and water reuse, and so on.
