摘　　要：通过对奥列佛·退斯特生活经历中印象最深刻的两个场所--济贫院和贼窟，以及对罪犯的审判体制--这些代表着当时英国资本主义社会中最阴暗角落的生动描述，本文希望让读者了解到资本主义制度下的非人性生活，同时希望通过这些描述来引起读者对底层人民的同情，特别是要关注孩子们的命运。Through the vivid description of the workhouse and the thieves＇ den, along with the portrait of criminal justice system, which gave the deepest impression on Oliver Twist, and which were standing for the dark side of the society under the capitalism, this paper expected to make the readers aware of the inhumanity of life under the capitalism. At the same time, the paper also wanted to call forth the readers＇ sympathy for the poor people of the lower class, especially for the children＇s fate.
