摘　　要：文章收集梳理报告、论文、新闻报道等资料,从意识、方式、角色、效果四方面对西雅图公共图书馆、纽约公共图书馆、上海图书馆和广州图书馆进行案例分析。通过比较,发现各馆均有意识地参与城市形象构建与传播,方式多样,角色各异,初具成效,可为公共图书馆参与城市形象构建与传播提供参考实例。By collecting and integrating reports,papers,news reports and other related materials,this paper discusses public library＇s functions in the construction and communication of urban image from aspects of consciousness,mode,role and effect. It studies four cases,namely the Seattle Public Library, the New York Public Library, Shanghai library and Guangzhou Library. After comparison, it is found that those libraries consciously play different roles and have achieved results on the establishment and spread of urban image in many ways. Those cases can provide empirical references for public libraries to take part in the establishment and spread of urban image.
