With regard to the demand of mechanical performance of composited panels in the engineering application, the double shear testing method was studied and the device was designed, aiming to measure the shear failure load in the direction parallel to the panels and characterize the stress distribution of composite panels in double shear state.Double shear test on structural insulated panels with different core materials and thickness was conducted;the failure modes and mechanical properties were analyzed. The results show that the failure surface shapes of specimens in the double shear test are appropriate and the data of the stress-strain curve is steady. The shear failure mode of EPS cored specimens belong to brittle failure, while the rock wool cored specimens don't lose their strength immediately after cracking but gradually reduce. With the increase of core material thickness of the specimen, the peak stress and strain of EPS cored specimen reduce nonlinearly;while the peak stress of rock wool cored specimen reduces but strain has no obvious correlation. The method and device can provide testing method for further research on mechanical properties of composited panels.2tabs,12 figs,16refs.
