摘　　要："语言是一个纯粹的价值系统"是索绪尔超越时代的深刻思想,它是索绪尔留给今天语言学尚待发掘的丰富而深厚的理论遗产。索绪尔符号价值系统理论也隐藏深刻的理论危机。因此,21世纪的语言学面临三个任务:第一,依据索绪尔的《教程》《手稿》发掘整理出符号价值系统理论体系;第二,揭示符号价值系统理论自身的深刻危机:旧的"词源"语源观与崭新的符号价值系统观的深刻矛盾;第三,提出能为符号价值系统观奠基的新的语源观,以解决符号价值系统理论自身的深刻矛盾。这是21世纪语言学实现重大突破的契机。＂Language as a pure value system＂ is Saussure＇s insightful thought on language, a theoretical heritage left by Saussure yet to be explored for linguistics. Meanwhile, Saussure＇s symbol value system theory is faced with theoretical crisis today. Therefore, there remain three tasks for 21 st century linguistics： first, to explore and compile value system of Symbol according to Saussure＇s Course in General Linguistics; second, to reveal the deep crisis in value system of Symbol： the profound contradictions between old ＂Etymology＂ view of etymology and new value system of Symbol; thirdly, to put forward a new view of language that is to lay a foundation for value system of Symbol so as to resolve the contradiction in this theory. This is the opportunity of the linguistics to achieve a major breakthrough in the 21st century.
