Objective To explore the nursing effect of improved new bathing pool on neonatal bath. Methods A total of 416 neo- nates were randomly selected from Inpatient Department of the hospital from May 2012 to October 2013 and divided into observation group and control group, 208 neonates in each group. The neonates in observation group used improved new bathing pool for neonatal bath, while the neonates in control group used traditional bathing pool for neonatal bath. The bath time, the incidence rates of neonatal impetigo and um- bilical infection, the times of falling and inhaled water during bath time, bathing states (quiet or crying), and the degrees of backache of nurses in the two groups were observed and compared. Results There were statistically significant differences in bath time, the incidence rates of neonatal impetigo and umbilical infection, the times of falling and inhaled water during bath time, bathing state, and the degree of backache of nurses between the two groups (P〈0. 05 ) . Conclusion The improved new bathing pool for neonates can shorten bath time and reduce the incidence rates of neonatal impetigo and umbilical infection, reduce the degree of backache of nurses, which can improve the safety of neonatal bath and care quality.
