摘　　要：索尔·贝娄的小说《赫索格》通过主人公的心理历程展现犹太人在传统与现实的矛盾中体验的对生存的焦虑和对自我身份的探寻。小说中的犹太文化要素——受难和流浪的犹太母题、积极肯定的犹太伦理以及犹太边缘身份叙事——被消解为文学的潜在媒质,显示出形而上的普遍意义,因而赫索格的精神困境代表了西方社会的典型困境。贝娄积极的人生态度,关注人的生存境遇,彰显了作家的人文主义情怀。The novel Herzog unfolds the psychological experience of the protagonist to present the Jewish survival anxiety and inquiry of self-identity in the contradiction between tradition and reality. The Jewish cultural factors contained in the novel, including the motifs of victimizing and wandering, the positive moral of life and marginal writing perspective, are dissolved as an essential of literature and demonstrates the metaphysical significance. Therefore, the spiritual dilemma is representative of the whole western society. The Jewish quality that Bellow inherits from his people and the positive moral of life enable him to show concern about the survival of human beings and thus intensify his humanism.
