Objective: To investigate the role of stem cell factor( SCF) in serum of patients with chronic mountain sickness( CMS) and healthy people in high altitude. Methods: Enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay( ELISA) was used to determine the levels of serum stimulating colony factor,( SCF) in chronic mountain sickness,( CMS)( n = 20); native Tibetan high altitude( n = 22),immigrant Han native( n = 24),as healthy controls( n = 24). Variance and Pearson's correlation analysis were used for statistical analysis. Results: ①The concentrations of serum SCF were significantly different in the four groups( F = 2. 281,P〈0. 01). The expression levels of serum SCF were higher in native Tibetan high altitude compared with CMS,( 975. 9 ± 120. 0) pg / m L vs( 843. 4 ± 159. 3) pg /m L( P〈0. 05) and SCF were higher in native Tibetan high altitude compared with healthy controls,( 975. 9 ± 120. 0) pg / m L vs( 865. 0 ± 148. 4) pg / m L( P〈0. 05); ②There were no significant correlation between the expressions of SCF and hemoglobin, arterial oxygen saturation in four groups( P〉0. 05). Conclusion: Altered expression of SCF may be involved in the the mechanisms of high altitude adaptation.
