Objective: To evaluate the quality of life in children with atopic dermatitis(AD) and their families. Methods: One hundred and nine AD children, 54 healthy children and their parents were investigated with quality of life questionnaires (IDQOL, CDLQI and DFI), and AD severity(SCORAD) was used to evaluate clinical symptoms. Results: The quality of life in children with AD and their families was significantly lower than that in healthy children and their families. The IDQOL and the CDLQI scores of AD children were 9.19±3.67 and 7.83±2.87, respectively. The DFI scores in the younger children with AD were significantly higher than those in the older with AD. The SCORAD scores were correlated significantly with the IDQOL and CDLQI scores(r1=0.281 and P1=0.016, r2=0.344 and P2=0.040, respectively). DFI scores also were correlated significantly with IDQOL and CDLQI scores(r1=0.642 and P1=0.000, r2=0.726 and P2=0.000, respectively). Conclusions: AD adversely affects the quality of life in children with AD and their families. The quality of life is inversely associated with the severity of AD.
