摘　　要：埃德加·爱伦·坡是西方哥特文学创作的巅峰,他的作品和创作理论对后世的文学发展产生了巨大的影响;蒲松龄是中国古代志怪传奇文学的集大成者,他的代表作《聊斋志异》也具有广泛的世界影响。作为东、西方惊悚小说作家中的"双璧",他们两人的相似之处不仅仅表现在热衷于创作具有惊恐特征的小说题材方面,而且体现在二人旨在追求作品强烈艺术效果的叙事艺术上。他们通过精心的情节设计,出色的意境营造,和强化故事可信度等手段,加之高超的语言表达技巧,使各自的作品展现出震撼读者心灵的艺术效果。Edgar Allan Poe, as the summit of western gothic literature, had great influence on the literary development after him; Pu Songling, as a master of ancient Chinese mysterious stories, produced a worldwide influence as well. As the best writers of fiction of horror of the world, they had shown striking similarity, in addition to the choice of subjects, the emphasis on their works＇ artistic effect that is achieved through their similar means of narration such as the careful design of plots, the remarkable depiction of images, the trick to win trust from the readers, and the skillful use of languages.
