摘　　要：晚清苏州的现代化进程是在两次鸦片战争与太平天国战争的背景下展开的。苏州枪炮局作为最早的机器工业使苏州成为中国现代化的发轫地。苏州开埠后,现代化进程在多方面展开,工商业的发展与城市空间的拓展,勾画了晚清苏州现代演进的图景。The modern process of Suzhou in late Qing dynasty unfolded against the background of two Opium Wars and the war of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. Suzhou Bureau of Guns as the earliest machine industry made Suzhou become the origin of Chinese modernization. After Suzhou became a commercial port,the modernization process began. The expansion of industrial and commercial development and urban space outlined the prospect of modern evolvement of Suzhou in late Qing dynasty.
