摘　　要：《残杀》是美国新新闻主义的开山之作。基于对一宗多人凶杀案的深入跟踪调查,作品描写了良知丧失、犯罪猖獗梦魇般的美国生活,有鲜明的社会批判性。文章从作品的社会主题入手,对《残杀》进行解读,认为作品在两个方面展现了当代美国社会普遍存在的困境,由于即美国梦的困境和司法体制的困境。这两方面的深入调查和描写,作品在很大程度上颠覆和结构了美国的民主神话。As the initiative work of New Journalism,In Cold Blood,based on an investigation of a multi-murderous case,exposes the nightmare of American social life with no conscience and rampant with criminals and is a powerful critical work.The present paper interprets the social theme of the work and contents that the work depicts the dilemma of modern America： the dilemma of American Dream,and the dilemma of American judicial system. The intensive investigation and exposure of the dilemma is a kind of subversion and deconstruction of the American mythology of democracy.
