摘　　要：莫林·黛丽(Maureen Daly)于1942年发表了《第十七个夏季》(The Seventeenth Summer),小说一经发表就备受关注,遂而成为美国少年浪漫爱情小说的鼻祖,小说在背景、主题、情节和象征技巧上具有鲜明特点。作者将小说背景置于二战后期,以此考察战后美国家庭女性特殊的生存状态。主题上,黛丽试探性触碰了敏感话题,如青少年亲吻,饮酒或吸烟,由此反映出少年浪漫爱情小说主题的丰富性与尖锐性。小说在情节上凸显出作者对主次情节匠心独运处理。在写作技巧上,作者运用了象征手法来表现主题、刻画人物。以上特点不仅使作者与作品的"鼻祖"美誉实至名归,而且为少年浪漫爱情小说的后继强劲发展奠定基础。The Seventeenth Summer, created by Maureen Daly and once published in 1942, has attracted the public attention and thus become the originator for American Romanticism for young adult.The novel demonstrates several distinctive characteristics in the theme, plot and symbolic techniques. Setting the background against WWII, the author explores the special historical context for American females in the family. The sensitive topics including kissing, drinking and smoking of young adults are involved tentatively, which reflects the variety and keenness of the theme. In view of writing skills, the author utilizes the symbolic means to illustrate the themes and characterization, therefore laying a solid foundation for the following vigorous develooment of creative skills.
