《喜福会》中羽毛的意义多模态分析

摘　　要：多模态话语分析理论指协同运用功能语法和视觉语法分析一个包含了多种模态或多种符号系统的语篇。《喜福会》影片是多模态语篇,包含了视觉、听觉模态和图像、语言、声响三种符号系统。影片讲述的是中式思想的四位移民母亲和她们生养于美国的女儿由于文化背景和价值观的差异产生的冲突和最后的理解与融合。羽毛在整部电影主题的表达中起着至关重要的作用。对关于羽毛的一些有代表性的图像、对白、画外音、音乐和声响进行多模态话语分析,探讨电影中听觉和视觉模态是如何互动构建羽毛的意义和实现电影母爱永恒主题的。Based on systemic functional grammar and visual grammar,the thesis conducts a multimodal discourse analysis on the symbolic meaning of the swan feater of the filmic discourse The Joy Luck Club. Through analysing the visual modality and the auditive modality of the frame,verbal language,music and sound effects about the swan feather to see how they collaboratively contribute to the meaning- making of the swan feather and the film.
