Eyrie represents a story of love and salvation in which Tom Keely guards the little child Kai against mental trauma and helps him regain confidence. Meanwhile, Tom restores self-esteem as well as values of his life. Seemingly, the Australian society luckily survives the global economic crisis without any financial loss. However, behind the industrial development mania there is a dangerous social crisis, among which the deficiency of love in the whole society is the most serious one. For Australian people, guarding the eyrie of love becomes the top issue on the agenda. The details of the anti-culture moments represented in the novel do deserve special attention. The concept of interpersonal love advocated by Hippies, offers a hint that love could be the final salvation for the cold and indifferent society now.
