The effects of variable frequency ultrasonic on the growth and development of Red Tilapia larvae have been studied. The Red Tilapia larvae( body weight was( 0. 23 ± 0. 05) g) that were reared for30 d was divided into four ultrasonic frequency 0,20,28,40 k Hz. The results indicated that in frequency 20 k Hz,the Red Tilapia larvae had the highest relative weight gain rate was( 108. 80 ± 4. 09) %,specific growth rate was( 2. 45 ± 0. 70) % ·d- 1 and the apparent digestibility of protein matter was( 90. 60 ± 1. 26) %. In frequency 28 k Hz,the Red Tilapia larvae attained the highest apparent digestibility of dry matter was( 69. 58 ± 1. 94) %. However,in frequency 40 k Hz,the relative weight gain rate was( 71. 79 ± 1. 64) %,specific growth rate was( 1. 80 ± 0. 31) %,the apparent digestibility of dry matter was( 60. 46 ± 1. 17) % and protein matter was( 86. 06 ± 1. 81) % were the minimum. The study results show that different frequency ultrasonic had significant effects on the weight gain rate,specific growth rate,digestibility of Red Tilapia larvae( P 〈0. 05). It is advantageous to the growth of the Red Tilapia larvae with the ultrasonic frequency between 20 to 28 k Hz,but it is adverse in 40 k Hz.
