Objective To explore the application effect of WeChat public platform in the transitional care for postoperative breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy via venous port. Methods We divided 412 breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy via venous port into a control group(n=192)and an observation group(n=220)according to chronological order. The control group received routine care both during chemotherapy and after hospitalization, while the observation group,on the basis of the control group,we established WeChat platform and the "Imported Port Express in Breast and Thyroid Department" WeChat′s user base, and offered professional information, online guidance, imported port maintenance reminding etc.The effectiveness was assessed at the beginning of the 4th chemotherapy period. Results We sent 326 messages to the patients in the observation group, the rates of imported port knowledge and on-time maintenance, and the satisfaction degree of patients in the observation group were significantly higher than the control group, while rates of port-related complication was significantly lower than the control group(P〈0.01 for all). Conclusion Establishment and application of WeChat platform are conducive to improve knowledge of imported port for breast cancer patients with chemotherapy, and therefore to enhance maintenance compliance and avoid port-related complications.
