摘　　要：本文阐述了人口素质在经济发展中的重要作用,分析了以往研究中存在的不足,确定了研究山西省人口素质与发展水平关系的目标及意义。在参考国内外诸多研究者较为常用的衡量标准的基础上,科学选定研究的量化指标,以期为后续研究工作扎实可行的推进打下良好基础。The paper discusses the important role of population quality in economic progress, analyzes theproblems of the previous research and shows the goal and meaning of the study on relationship between Shanxipopulation quality and economic progress. On the basis of reference to the appraisal criterion the researchers of-ten use, the paper specifies quantitative indicator to lay a sound foundation for further work.
