摘 要:大学校长任期往往决定了一名优秀校长对大学发展的贡献程度。研究我国"985高校"校长近三十年来的任期情况,并对照同期美国知名大学校长任期发现,我国大学校长任期太短;分析近些年"985高校"校长换届情况发现,我国大学校长任期不稳定。文章通过进一步研究发现,我国大学校长任期存有的这些问题是受以前相关政策影响造成的,同时大学校长的产生和任职明显具有行政化、官员化特征,这些原因导致很多不利于大学发展的严重后果。为完善我国大学校长的任期,需构建校长"选任"制度,取消大学行政级别并延长大学校长任期。The contribution degrees of one outstanding chancellor toward the development of u- niversity are often influenced by his or her tenure. Based on the analysis of the chancellor's tenure in Chinese Project-"985 sponsored universities" in nearly 30 years, and in comparison with famous university chancellors' tenures in United States over the corresponding period, this paper finds that the tenures of Chinese university chancellors are too short and the office term of the Project-"985 sponsored university" chancellors shows the instability of their ten- ure. The problems in the tenure of university chancellors above mentioned are impacted by pre- vious education policies and the administration and official characteristics in the process of gen- eration and taking office of the university chancellors. These problems have brought about plenty of bad influences on university development. In order to improve the tenure of university chancellors in China a chancellors ' election and appointment system should be set up, adminis- trative rankings of universities should be canceled and the tenure of university chancellors should be extended.
