Objective: To find out correlations between overall support degrees before peripherally inserted central catheter( PICC) for patients treated with tumor chemotherapy and adverse events during PICC. Methods: Through convenience sampling, selected 240 cases of patients treated with tumor chemotherapy as our respondents, and investigated and analyzed overall support degrees before PICC,adverse events during PICC,and life quality of patients via " assessment form before PICC" and " 3. 0 version of HRQOL questionnaire". Results: Scores on subjective support, objective support and support utilization of tumor patients were all less than 1,indicating relatively low support degrees; occurrence rates of catheter translocation, catheter dislocation and catheter drop during PICC were 19. 16%,5. 0% and 15. 41% separately, and the occurrence rates of Phlebitis, associated bloodstream infection and associated thrombus were 12. 50%,4. 58% and 2. 08%. The differences in PICC efficacy, security and life quality between patients with high and low overall support degrees had statistical significances( P 〈0. 05). Conclusion: Overall support degrees of patients treated with tumor chemotherapy can influence PICC efficacy and security, and reduce their life quality.
