摘　　要：方志属于历史学范畴。"志"体和"史"体的本质区别在于"史远而志近""史专而志广""史简而志繁""史主论述、志著广征"。《襄樊市志(1979-2005)》是襄阳有史以来编纂出版的一部最完备的志书,是襄阳数千年文化长河中的一个缩影。该志重点记述1978年12月中国共产党第十一届三中全会召开至2005年间政区内所发生的重大事件,客观真实地反映辖区内各项事业的发展历程。全志用唯物史观集中记述了近现代襄阳境内发生的深刻的社会变革、社会进步、经济发展和人民生活的变化,体现了鲜明的时代特征和地方特色,是一项巨大的社会、文化系统工程。"治天下者以史为鉴,治郡国者以志为鉴"。只有认识襄阳,才能热爱、珍惜襄阳,振兴襄阳。该志是襄阳各级领导干部施政决策的可靠依据和借鉴,更是全体襄阳人民把襄阳建设成省域副中心城市、汉江流域中心城市的重要历史财富。The Xiangfan City Annals （1979-2005） is the most complete chronicle in Xiangyang compilation history and a microcosm of thousands of years of Xiangyang culture. It focuses on the major events from December 1978, the third plenary session of the eleventh central committee of Communist Party of China, to 2005 in the administrative region, objectively and truly reflecting the development of various undertakings in the region. It records the social change, social progress, economic development and people＇s life with historical materialism embodying the distinctive characteristics of the times and the local city. It is a huge social and cultural system engineering, which will be the reliable basis and reference for the policy decisions of leading cadres at all levels in Xiangyang and the important historical wealth of all the Xiangyang people to build Xiangyang into the sub-center city of the province and the center of the Hanjiang River.
