On the Burial Locations of the Empresses of the Western Han Dynasty

摘　　要：西汉时期享受过皇后待遇的女性达20人,她们的葬地分为帝陵、帝陵附近、汉长安城周边及其它地区四种情况。传统与西汉帝陵制度、皇后的身份变化、葬俗及皇帝的情感均对皇后葬地具有影响,其中前两种因素发挥主要作用。葬制与葬地并不对应,皇后死亡时的身份决定着她们的葬制。During the Westem Han Dynasty, the women who bore the title and equivalent of empresses were as many as 20. Their burials were distributed in four kinds of places： the imperial mausoleum precinct, nearby the former, surrounding the Han Chang＇an City, and other places. The traditions, the imperial burial institution, the changes of the statuses of the empresses and the burial customs and the emperors＇ feelings to them might all influence the choices of the empresses＇ burial locations, and the first two of them played the main roles. Burial ranks did not usually correspond to the burial locations, because the burial ranks were decided by the statuses of the empresses at their death.
