摘　　要：弱者逃避退缩,故步自封;强者迎难而上,勇往直前。在福克纳的杰作《喧嚣与骚动》中,人物表现各异。康普森先生,昆丁,和班吉都逃避现实,躲避时间;康普森夫人,杰生和小昆丁面对现实,却缺失爱。然而,凯蒂自由追寻爱和自我,迪尔西冷静面对家族的衰败。本文试图分析这些角色在面对整个家庭的耻辱衰败时的不同表现。如果人类逃避时间,那么注定失败。如果勇敢面对时间,却无爱残忍,那么依旧失败,无法让时间拥有价值。只有积极面对时间和内心拥有爱同在,人类才能在时间长河中坚持并存活下去。When facing difficulties,the coward may escape while the brave will advance bravely. In William Faulkner＇s masterpiece ＂ The Sound and the Fury＂,characters behave differently. Some choose to escape from the reality and time,including Mr. Compson,Quentin,and Benjy. Then Mrs. Compson,Jason,and Quentin face the reality without love. However,Caddy pursues love and self-identity freely while Dilsey faces the decline of the Compsons calmly. This thesis attempts to analyze how these characters face the disgrace of the whole family. If people escape from time,they are doomed to fail. If people face time bravely without love,they still fail in realizing the value of time. Only when reality and love coexist,can human beings survive.
