Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of CT values measured in acute bone marrow lesions of spine with Dual-energy CT( DECT) virtual noncalcium( VNC) imaging. Methods Patients with acute vertebral bone marrow lesions underwent both MRI and DECT. MR images served as the reference standard. The CT values were postprocessed for generating VNC imaging so that it could be used to display the bone marrow. CT attenuation values of normal and injured region were obtained in VNC imaging. And then evaluated the difference of CT values between them, using oneway ANOVA statistical analysis, compared to MRI. Results There was statistical significance in CT number of injured marrow areas which were higher than the normal regions dramatically. Agreement was substantial for qualitative grading of DECT color-coded maps and MR imaging. There was no statistical significance in CT number of injured bone marrow between the thoracic and lumbar( P〈0. 05). Conclusion Conclusion color-coded maps,CT attenuation measurement in dual-energy CT virtual noncalcium imaging has certain qualitative diagnostic value for acute bone marrow lesions of the spine.
