Objective To observe alteration of blood pressure and heart rate in patients injecting iodine contrast media for computed tomography( CT) examination, and evaluate correlation between alteration of blood pressure and heart rate and relative factors. Methods The systolic pressure values, diastolic pressure values and heart rate values were recorded before and after injection of iodine contrast media for CT examination in 1327 patients and the difference between them were compared. Results Systolic pressure and diastolic pressure significantly increased after injection of iodine contrast media( t = 15. 340,P = 0. 000,t = 7. 574,P = 0. 000). However, there was no significant change of heart rate after injection of iodine contrast media( t = 0. 589,P = 0. 556). The systolic pressure increased more than 10 mm Hg in 36. 4% patients and the diastolic pressure increased more than 10 mm Hg in 32. 0% patients. There was no significant correlation between alteration of blood pressure and gender, age, history of hypertension or diabetes, volume and injection velocity of contrast media. Conclusion The blood pressure would change significantly in patients after injection of iodine contrast media for CT examination, indicating that more attention should be paid to it.
