Objective: To compare the expressions of CD68 and Semaphorin4D(Sema4D) ingastric carcinoma and normal tissues to investigate the correlation between them and clinical significance. Methods: The expressions of CD68 and Sema4D were examined in 86 cases of gastric carcinoma and adjacent tissues by SP immunohistochemical staining. The relationship between the ex pressions and clinical pathological characters was analysied. Results: The positive rates of CD68 and Sema4D in gastric carcinoma tissues were significant higher than those in adjacent tissues (72.1% vs 23.3%, 74.4% vs 29.1%, respectively; both P〈0.01). CD68 and Sema4D were closely correlated with gastric carcinoma histological types, TNM stages and lymphatic metastasis (all P〈0. 05), and a significant correlation was observed between the expression of CD68 and Sema4D pro- teins in gastric carcinoma with the Spearman rank correlation (r=0.467, P〈0.01). Conclusion: The positive expression of CD68 is strongly correlated with that of Sema4D. Combined detection of CD68 and Sema4D has the potential to be the basis for prediction of the development trend of gastric carcinoma.
