Objective To investigate the gut microbiota of infant patients with breast milk jaundice(BMJ).Methods Shotgun metagenome sequencing was performed on the gut microbiota of 16 patients with BMJ and 16 normal infants. Results Generally the species and abundance of the gut microbiota in the BMJ group were not statistically different from those of controls(P0.05).There were differences in some species, for example, the amounts of Bifidobacteria,Bacteroides fragilis and Bacteroides thetaiotaomicronin BMJ group were less than those in the control group(P0.05).The differences in the functional pathways of the genes of microbiota were also statistically significant(P≤0.05).Especially in the pathways of glycan biosynthesis and metabolism,BMJ group expressed less genes than controls(P0.05).Conclusion Generally,no significant differences were seen in the species and abundance of gut microbiota between the BMJ group and control group. The amounts of Bifidobacteria,Bacteroides fragilis and Bacteroides thetaiotaomicronin BMJ group were less. Moreover,in functional genetic pathways, the differences between BMJ group and control group were statistically significant, especially in the pathways of glycan biosynthesis and metabolism.
