摘　　要：巴巴拉·塔奇曼以其卓越的战争历史写作两度荣获普利策奖并当选为美国艺术文学院的首位女院长。她自称"作为艺术家的历史作家"并重新界定了历史叙事艺术家的身份,通过自己的历史写作实践质疑和冲击了延续2500多年的"文史之辨"。正是由于赋予历史应有的可读性和巨大的影响力,塔奇曼毫无疑问地成为20世纪美国最具开创性的大众历史作家。Barbara W. Tuchman's outstanding achievement in war history writing has won her two Pulitzer Prizes and the first female president of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She called herself a'historian as an artist'and redefined the identity of history narrative artist,and,with her own history writing practice,questioned the 'debate between literature and history'which had lasted more than 2500 years. Because of the due readability that she has endowed to history and the great influence of her writing,Tuchman is no doubt the most innovative among American popular history writers in the 20^(th) century.
