摘  要:文章梳理早期粤方言文献"煲"的用例,发现"煲"最初义为"煮(一般为水)且使其沸腾",用于"煲水"、"煲茶"、"煲汤"、"煲粥"等,逐渐发展为"煮"的下位词;由"煮"义发展为表"壁较陡直、可以盛放较多液体的锅"。"煲"有源自"釜"、"缹"、"鍑"、"褒牛头"四说,根据"煲"的文献用例、英汉对比及史学成果,"煲"当来源于18世纪英语boil一词。The word "bao"(煲) is a Cantonese word, meani different opinions as to its origin. In this paper we investigate ng th "boil" and "boiler". There are four e usage of bao in missionary books and other Cantonese books from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Our finding is that the meaning of bao is "to boil something till it boils" and that it first occurred in phrases like "baocha" (煲茶), "bao shui" (煲水) and so on and then came to take the meaning of "boiler". Our conclusion is that bao came from the English word "boil" in the 18th century.
