以女性主义视角对温克尔太太形象的重新解读

摘　　要：华盛顿·欧文的短篇小说《瑞普·凡·温克尔》从传统的男性视角出发,把温克尔太太刻画成一个泼妇、悍妇的形象。但从女性主义视角来看,温克尔太太却是一位贤良淑德、任劳任怨的女性,一位受当时社会压迫的女性。她终日操持家务,同时还要忙于农活。面对游手好闲的丈夫她勇敢地站出来指责其对家庭的不负责任,并且向父权制文化提出挑战。不幸的是,她却被当时的社会忽略了、误解了。通过对温克尔太太形象的重新解读,可以看出她并不是传统观念所认为的泼妇、悍妇,而是一位敢于反抗传统的勇敢女性。Washington Irving in his short novel Rip Van Winkle depicts Mrs.Winkle as a vixen and termagant woman from the perspective of male,but from the perspective of feminism Mrs.Winkle is a kind and gentle,hardworking woman,who was oppressed by the society at that time.Mrs.Winkle was busy with homeworking and harm work,when facing idle husband,who bravely stood up to criticize his husband＇s irresponsibility for his family and meanwhile challenged to patriarchy culture.Unfortunately she was neglected and misunderstood by the society at that time.To reinterpret the female image of Mrs Winkle,we found she was not a vixen and termagant woman,on the contrary,who was a brave woman daring to revolt against the traditional culture.
