Objective The objective of this study is to investigate the clinical effect of applying fast track surgery for aged patients after total hip arthroplasty. Methods 90 cases of aged patients received total hip arthroplasty in our hospital from June 2013 to June 2105 were chosen. Conventional nursing was applied to control group with patients from June 2013 to May 2014 ,while fast track surgery was applied to observation group with patients from June 2014 to June 2015 ,with 45 cases in each group. The average cost of hospitalization, length of stay, first postoperative ambulation time, self-care ability after operation and postoperative complication rate of the two groups were compared. Results Indicators such as, the average cost of hospitalization, length of stay and first postoperative ambulation time of observation group were obviously better than control group ( P 〈 0. 05 ). Self-care ability scores of 3 days and 10 days after operation of observation group were obviously higher than control group ( P 〈 0. 05 ). And Postoperative complication rate of observation group was obviously lower than that of control group (P 〈 0. 05). Conclusion Applying fast track surgery for aged patients after total hip arthroplasty can accelerate rehabilitation, decrease postoperative complications and reduce the cost of hospitalization, ensuring satisfied effect. It is worthy of clinical promotion.
