Antimony and bismuth in copper electrolyte could be efficiently removed by solvent extraction. The performance of extracting antimony and bismuth with N235 was investigated by adding assisting extraction agent into copper electrolyte. The effects of various factors such as volume fraction of N235, concentration of assisting reagent, ratio of organic to aqueous phase(VO/VA) and reaction time were investigated. The results show that the single-stage extraction rates(mass fraction) of Sb and Bi are 56.1% and 96.6% respectively under the conditions that the organic phase composition is 20%N235+10%isooctanol+70%sulfonated kerosene, the assisting reagent concentration is 0.1 mol/L and VO/VA is 1:1. The seven-stage counter current extraction rates of Sb and Bi are 86.0% and 97.1% respectively under the conditions that the assisting reagent concentration is 0.1 mol/L and VO/VA is 2:1. The total stripping rates of Sb and Bi are up to 98.4% and 96.5% respectively after the organic phase of seven stages counter current extraction equilibrium is treated with ammonia precipitation stripping, water scrubbing and acid treatment. The organic phase can be recycled.
