The Yejiashan Cemetery is a cemetery of the Zeng State in the Western Zhou Dynasty. The M28, M65 and Mill, which were large-sized tombs and all yielded bronzes bearing inscription of "Zeng Hou (Marquis of Zeng)" , are the tombs of the Marquises, which were the rank of the Lord, of the Zeng State. The arrangement of these tombs and the chronological styles and inscriptions of the bronzes unearthed from them all showed that in the Yejiashan Cemetery, three lords of the Zeng State were buried, who were the Marquises of Zeng of three successive generations, namely the Marquis Kang (Mlll) → Marquis Jian (M28) → Marquis X (name unidentifiable, M65) . Soon after the founding of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the Zhou court started the "controlling and governing of the southern territories" with the Han River as the transportation route, and the enfeoffing of the Zeng State would be during the reign of King Cheng.
