Objective To investigate the expression of P53 and Mta-1in bladder cancer tissue and their clinical significance. Methods The samples comprised of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue blocks of 60 cases of primary bladder cancer and 10 cases of normal bladder mucosa. The expressions of P53 and Mta-1in the samples were immunohistochemically determined and their correlation with clinicopathological parameters was statistically analyzed. Results The rates of positive expression of P53 and Mta-1in bladder cancer tissue were 63.3%(38/60)and 71.6%(43/60),respectively,and in normal bladder mucosa0%.There was significant difference between the two groups(P〈0.01).Furthermore,high expressions of P53 and Mta-1in bladder cancer were closely related with the clinical stage and pathological grade(P〈0.05),but there was no obvious relationship with patient's sex,age and tumor size(P〉0.05).Also,it was found that the expression of P53 was positively correlated with Mta-1expression in bladder cancer(r=0.596,P=0.000).Conclusion Expressions of P53 and Mta-1in bladder cancer tissue could serve as significant biomarkers to predict the aggressiveness and prognostic outcome.
