Objective To explore the relationship between serum gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) and coronary heart disease (CHD) in women. Methods Clinical data of 282 suspected CHD and initial diagnostic coronary angiography patients in women from January 2014 to December 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the results of coronary angiography, cases were divided into CHD group and non-CHD group; according to the level of serum GGT, cases were divided into five grade groups, name- ly, normal low (22 cases), normal high (111 eases), moderately elevated (61 cases), elevated (31 cases) and highly elevated (57 cases). Results The serum GGT levels in CHD group were statistically different from those in non-CHD group in women ( P =0. 010) ; the prevalence of CHD in women was signifi cantly increased as serum GGT levels elevated (χ2 = 6. 37, P = 0. 012) ; logistic regression showed that serum GGT was independent risk factor of CHD in women ( OR = 1. 845,95% CI : 1. 070 - 3. 178, P = 0. 027). Conclusions Serum GGT was independent risk factor of CHD in women, suggesting that there is an indicative effect on CHD.
