摘　　要：慈善公益事业是张謇一生中重笔描摹的部分。他以实业为后盾,以南通为基地,身体力行,将传统慈善救济之举拓展为近代慈善公益事业,并将慈善与实业、教育连为一体,视之为地方自治的核心。张謇主导下的一系列慈善公益活动取得了巨大的成就,铸就了中国慈善史上的一座丰碑。但由于近代中国社会和自身财富实力等诸多因素的制约,张謇的慈善公益之路并没有越走越宽广,反而呈现出戴着镣链跳舞的特征,留下历史的遗憾。Philanthropy is a very important part in Zhang J ian^s life. With industrial backing and Nantong as a base, he transformed the traditional charity into modern philanthropy in person, and regarded the charity, industry, education as a trinity, which was looked as the core part of local autonomy. The series of charitable activities under the auspices of Zhang Jian had made great achievements and created a monument in Chinese charity history. Yet checked by the constraint of modern Chinese society and insufficiency of his own wealth and influence, it is regretted Zhang Jian＇s philanthropy did not go on a wider road, instead it featured hard operation.
