摘　　要：在其传记故事集《外国人》中,卡里尔·菲利普斯提出并解答了一个具有种族伦理内涵的问题,即:英国黑人土生子特平和来自英国前殖民地尼日利亚拉各斯的黑人移民奥利瓦里为何身为英国公民却被视为低人一等的"外国人",并因此而遭受种族歧视和迫害?通过对特平和奥利瓦里悲惨命运的文学化再现,菲利普斯谴责了隐含于战后英国社会中狭隘的种族部落意识,藉此警醒英国民众。In Foreigners,a collection of biographical stories,Caryl Phillips raises and answers a racial ethical question: why are Turpin as a British native son and Oluwale as an immigrant from former British colony Lagos Nigeria regarded as inferior 'foreigners'who are racially discriminated against and persecuted?Through a literary rewriting of the miserable fates of Turpin and Oluwale,Phillips condemns the narrow minded racial tribal ideology in the postwar British society and awakens the conscience of the British people,hoping that Britain will one day become a real home for its colored citizens represented by the Black British.
