摘 要:普特南所具有的历史视野使他达至了如下洞见:理想的知识绝无法在任何当下时刻实现,完满的德行必寓居于面向时间的未来。如此,在表面意义上,普特南要求一种完全开放的科学,强调任何科学结果都具有暂时性、非稳定性与不确定性。而在内涵层次上,作为虔诚的犹太教徒,实际支配普特南思想发展的是如下图景:将犹太教的基本原则——超越性的人格化上帝,缩减为一种思想意识,一种文化理念,进而试图调和理性哲学与启示信仰间的永恒冲突。The historical perspectives possessed by Putnam drives him to form the following views: ideal knowledge cannot be achieved in any present moment. Mature morality must exist in the future. So on the exoteric level, Putnam requires a kind of science with completely openness, urging that every scientific conclusion has the features of temporality, instability and uncertainty. Further on the esoteric level, as a practicing Jew, Putnam's true purposes are as below: to convert the principle of Judaism into a thought consciousness, a cultural consideration, and then to reconcile the ancient conflicts between philosophy as rationality and Judaism as revelation.
