Objective To examine the through centrifuge exposures to -1.5 protection of pressurized leg belts (20 kPa) on push-pull effect (PPE) Gz for 5 s combined with + Gz for 10s. Methods + Gz tolerance of five subjects were measured under the following 5 conditions: relaxed pure + Gz tolerance, + Gz tolerance with prior -1.5 Gz exposure when subjects were relaxed, performing HP maneuver, using pressurized leg belts, and combination of HP maneuver and pressurized leg belts. Results Relaxed + Gz tolerance was reduced by ( 1.55 ± 0.11 ) G ( P 〈 0.01 ) after - 1.5 Gz exposure for 5 s. Protections by HP maneuver, pressurized leg belts, and combination of HP maneuver with pressurized leg belts were ( 1.25 ± 0.25) G, ( 1.25 ± 0.25 ) G, and (2.40±0.29)G(P 〈 O. O1 ), respectively. When protected by HP maneuver, pressurized leg belts or their combination, the heart rate during + Gz exposures at endpoints was significantly faster than that during its previous - 1.5 Gz exposure. Conclusion It is confirmed that the pressurized leg belts can provide effective protection for PPE, which is of great significance for developing PPE protection equipment.
