摘　　要：从现代传记学理论的视角针对以美国革命诗人菲利普·弗瑞诺为传主的第二部传记《菲利普·弗瑞诺的政治活动》进行评介,以评介为框架,通过菲利普·弗瑞诺传记的多版本比较梳理展现菲利普·弗瑞诺与美国革命之父们之间的恩怨情仇:弗瑞诺与麦迪逊之间的友情、弗瑞诺与汉密尔顿之间的论争、弗瑞诺与杰斐逊之间的合作、弗瑞诺与华盛顿之间的误解等。福曼撰写的这部学术传记《菲利普·弗瑞诺的政治活动》充分利用报刊、书信、传记和诗歌等材料,一一披露并论证了他们之间的恩怨情仇及是非曲直,纠正了历史的偏见,给予弗瑞诺公正的评价。该传记史料性有余,文学性不足,与其它传记不同,该传记在传主生平的基础上紧紧围绕弗瑞诺的历史地位进行叙述并阐释,主题比较突出。The friendship and enmity between Philip Freneau and the fathers of American revolution were clarified in the article based on the biographical comparison among this second biography The Political Activities of Philip Freneau and other biographical works about Philip Freneau： the friendship between Freneau and Madison,the conflict between Freneau and Hamilton,the cooperation between Freneau and Jefferson,the misunderstanding between Freneau and Washington and so on. Meanwhile,the academic biography The Political Activities of Philip Freneau written by Samuel E Forman was analyzed from the perspective of modern biographical poetics. It made full use of such biographical materials as newspaper,letters,biographies and poetry to expose their friendship and enmity and proved who is right or wrong. Thus,this can be used to correct the historic bias toward Freneau and give an impartial comment on Freneau. Different from other biographies,Forman＇s biography,being more historic and less literary,was narrated tightly around the historic position of Freneau,with its obtrusive biographical subject.
