古典主义视野下的狄更斯小说接受——以吴宓与新文化派论争为中心

摘　　要：吴宓的狄更斯观受美国新人文主义的白壁德影响而形成。白壁德把狄更斯当成自我膨胀的物质主义者加以反对,而忽视了狄更斯审美现代性的浪漫主义本质。吴宓接受了这种错误的狄更斯观并加以改造,以古典主义的狄更斯观同新文化派展开论争并发挥了很大作用,影响到中国现代文学的新特点和文学走向。这反映了影响研究的误读造成文学接受的复杂性现象。Wu Mi＇ s view of Charles Dickens was formed under the influence of Irving Babbitt, an American neo -Humanist. Babbitt regarded Dickens as an egoistic materialist while ignoring the romantic nature of his aesthetic modernity. Wu Mi adopted this improper view of Dickens and modified it in the literary controversy of the New Culture Movement, which had a profound influence upon the features and development of Chinese new literature. This provides a distinct reflection of the complex situation in literature acceptance resulted from the misreading brought about by influence study.
